Tuesday basketball results include Cotter boys winning season opener

The Cotter boys began their season on a winning note as they were among the high school basketball teams taking part in the Pangburn Tip-off Classic on Tuesday. The Warriors scored 29 points in the final quarter to come from behind and defeat White County Central 65-58. Ryan Benedict led Cotter with 17 points, David Roger scored 16, and Brayden Adams added 11. Cotter starts off at 1-0, and they’ll meet Riverside Thursday in the Bobby D. Hulse Memorial Classic at Norfork.
In another boys’ game at Pangburn, Bergman came out on top of a high-scoring affair. The Panthers got past eStem by a final of 94-86.
On the girls’ side, Viola topped Bradford 53-37, Rural Special was edged out by Pangburn 65-63, and Bergman fell to Greers Ferry West Side 67-50.

Norfork’s teams were swept by Sloan-Hendrix as they hosted the second night of the Bobby D. Hulse Memorial Classic. The Panthers lost the boys’ game to the Greyhounds 51-34. The Norfork girls also fell to Sloan-Hendrix 62-34.
Flippin was able to invoke the mercy rule in the other boys’ game. The Bobcats routed Kingston by a final of 68-37.
Timbo’s girls had a rough day in the opening game at Norfork. The Lady Tigers suffered a 65-11 defeat to Kingston.

Elsewhere, the Valley Springs boys came up just short as they met Ozark Catholic at Arkansas Athletes Outreach in Rogers. The Tigers fell to the Griffins 81-77.

Jasper picked up a four-game sweep over Alpena with each game requiring the mercy rule. The Pirates pounded the Leopards 73-36 in the senior boys’ game. The senior girls’ contest ended with Jasper breezing past Alpena 66-31. Jasper also dominated the junior boys’ game 59-20. The evening started with Jasper’s junior girls beating up on Alpena 56-15.
