Grace Abounds, a local nonprofit offering counseling and mentorship programs for mental health therapy is holding a fundraising event Saturday afternoon starting at 3 to raise money to renovate a section of the old college dorm building to create a teen homeless shelter.
The event will feature family-friendly activities, including games with prizes, food, a petting zoo, rides, face painting, and crafts.
Grace Abounds is already using the old Mountain Home College Dormitory for their counseling clinic. However, Founder Daniel Grace says, since the building was originally built in 1894, the upstairs still needs a lot of work.

Grace says plans are underway to convert the upstairs of the old Mountain Home College Dormitory into a homeless shelter for local teens. The shelter will aim to house three to five girls and three to five boys, along with a host family, in an effort to create a family-like environment and provide individualized care for each teen.
Grace says he understands the need for this type of program through his experience at Guy Berry College and Career Academy and in the mental health field.

Co-Founder Joannie Grace says they want to use this program to give teens a home base they can use in the future.
