Due to ongoing drought conditions and heightened wildfire risk, Buffalo National River is now under a temporary fire ban. This ban prohibits all wood-fueled fires, including charcoal grills, in developed campgrounds and backcountry areas.

However, camp stoves, lanterns, and free-standing gas grills are still allowed in developed campgrounds and picnic areas. Solid fuel, propane, or liquid-fueled camp stoves and lanterns may be used throughout the park.

The following restrictions are in place:

-No campfires in backcountry or wilderness areas.

-No tiki torches, candles, or open-flame lanterns are allowed in these areas.

-Smoking is permitted only inside vehicles, on roadways, or in areas free of combustible materials.

-Fireworks remain prohibited on all National Park Service lands.

This ban will remain in effect until conditions improve. For more information, contact the Tyler Bend Visitor Center at 870-439-2502 or the Buffalo Point Ranger Station at 870-449-4311.
