On Thursday, the Arkansas Beef Council crowned a burger from Bailey’s Family Restaurant in Cave City as Arkansas’s Best Burger.
While Cave City is famous for its watermelons, the Caveman Burger, a massive two-pound beef patty served on a nine-inch bun with options for cheese, bacon, or even a double patty, took home the coveted award.
“Arkansas beef producers are proud to produce the beef served on family dinner tables and in Arkansas’s favorite local burger spots,” Arkansas Beef Council chairman Caleb Plyler said. “Congratulations to the top 10 finalists and the Arkansas’s Best Burger Contest winner.”
The competition attracted over 2,400 nominations featuring more than 410 different burgers, leading to the selection of the top ten finalists.
The Caveman Burger stood out, earning the highest score from an anonymous panel of judges. They evaluated the burgers based on patty taste, appearance, cooking, and overall impression.
Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward highlighted the contest’s significance, noting that it showcases the appreciation Arkansans have for quality beef and their commitment to supporting local restaurants.
“The overwhelming response in the first year of Arkansas’s Best Burger Contest demonstrates that Arkansans deeply value both the quality of beef and the dedication of our locally owned restaurants to create the perfect burger,” Ward said.
