Sales tax numbers for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continue to climb for the month of October.
According to the Mountain Home Director of Finance and Treasury, Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $607,476 in city sales tax revenue for October which is an increase of 4.7% for the month. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $144,068 or 2.5%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $539,393. This time last year, Baxter County received $505,085 which is an increase of $34,307 or 6.8%.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in October, which reflect area spending from the month of August.
Mountain Home received $291,788 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $273,229, which is a increase of 4.7588%. The year-to-date increase equals $18,559 or 6.7925%.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $49,393;
– Cotter, which received $20,157;
– Lakeview, which received $17,632;
– Salesville, which received $10,761;
– Norfork, which received $10,579;
– Briarcliff, which received $5,369; and
– Big Flat, which received $2,002.
Baxter County received $236,769 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.
Mountain Home received $227,803 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $217,517 which is a monthly increase of 6.7925%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $87,277 or 3.2525%.
Mountain Home has collected nearly $303,738 for October from the park improvement sales tax, which is $83,454 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,283 for 2024.
Park operation sales tax for July equals $151,869.
