While the first week of early voting was a busy one for Baxter County, the numbers are down compared to the last presidential election in 2020 by over 900 ballots. This year’s election has one early polling location in the county, compared to three locations four years ago.

The first six days of this year’s early voting session in Baxter County concluded with 7,886 ballots cast. The same time period in 2020 had 8,820 early voters.

One similarity between the two early voting periods was the first day having the largest turnout. Last Monday’s total of Baxter County voters was 1,652. Oct. 19, 2020, concluded with 1,956 ballots cast.

Early voting will continue through Nov. 4 at First United Methodist Church at 605 West Sixth Street in Mountain Home. Hours will be this Monday through Friday from 8 to 6, Saturday from 10 to 4 and Nov. 4 from 8 to 5.
