Firefighters from the Mark Twain National Forest continue to battle the wildfire along the Glade Top Trail. The fire, located nearly 12 miles southwest of Ava and nearly 1,500 acres in size, was about 60% contained as of this morning.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has contacted homeowners on the north end of the fire, and several evacuations have occurred. Local volunteer fire departments, including Goodhope and Squires, have set up structure protection around homes near the fire. Currently, no structures have been lost.
