A Boone County man has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit that had speeds reach 145 miles-per-hour. Twenty-year-old Samuel Sumers of Everton is free from the Boone County Detention Center after posting $10,000 bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Harrison Police Department, the Arkansas State Police had been in a pursuit of a motorcycle Sumers was driving but terminated the pursuit as it entered the Harrison city limits on the south side.

A Harrison Police officer saw the motorcycle still speeding through the city limits and picked the pursuit up again with speeds reaching 100 miles-per-hour on Business 65 through the city. The pursuit continued north on U.S. Highway 65 at speeds over 145 miles-per-hour but was terminated at the Arkansas-Missouri state line.

The officer learned the motorcycle had been stopped about one week earlier by officers with the Harrison Police Department and was able to pull body cam video of the stop to verify the motorcycle and rider matched the motorcycle and rider he had been pursuing. He then ran Sumers’ information through both Arkansas and national crime computers and found an emergency contact who gave police Sumers’ phone number.

Police called Sumers and asked him to come into the station which he did. Sumers admitted to fleeing from both the Arkansas State Police and Harrison Police.

Sumers is facing a felony charge of fleeing in a vehicle and misdemeanor charges of speeding and reckless driving.
