Single parents pursuing higher education in Arkansas can now apply for scholarships of up to $1,600 from the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) for the Spring 2025 semester. Applications are now open until Dec. 1 and can be submitted at aspsf.org/applynow.

If awarded, recipients can use the funds to cover household expenses such as child care, groceries, and gas while continuing their studies. In addition to financial support, ASPSF also offers mentoring, resources, and professional development opportunities.

Fall 2024 recipient Megan Thiesse, who is working on a bachelor’s degree at Arkansas State University says, “This scholarship is making my dreams come true of becoming a special education teacher. This program is living proof that single parents can make it. With the right support and the right guidance, anything is possible!”

ASPSF awards scholarships three times a year to single parents enrolled in programs for skilled-trade certificates, associate degrees, and bachelor’s degrees. Eligible applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED, maintain a 2.0 GPA, and fall within low to medium income brackets. Full eligibility requirements can be found on the ASPSF website.

This year, ASPSF awarded over 800 scholarships totaling $1.1 million which were made possible by contributions from individuals, schools, businesses, and foundations who believe in the transformative power of education.
