The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 45 is holding a new fundraiser for its holiday program. The Inaugural Shop with a Cop Two-Man Scramble is scheduled for Friday at Big Creek Country Club and sponsored by Clay Maxey Chevrolet.

Fraternal Order of Police Treasurer and Mountain Home School Resource Officer Corporal Zach Ables says the decision was made to change the fundraiser to a golf tournament after meeting with Clay Maxey Chevrolet General Manager Erik Stewart.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to support law enforcement’s ability to take local children shopping for Christmas. Officers will work with school counselors to determine the needs of a child during the holiday period, and one will volunteer to take a kid that is on the list shopping in December.

Corporal Ables says seeing the joy on a child’s face makes makes the program worth while.

The shotgun start for the tournament is at noon. The entry fee is $100 per golfer, and a dinner will be included following the conclusion.

Corporal Ables says while the tournament is a two-man scramble, it’s an opportunity for several friends to gather and have fun on the links for a worthy cause.
