The annual Veterans Day Commemoration, organized by the North Central Arkansas Veterans Council, is set for Monday at 11 a.m. at Veterans Plaza. Hosted by the United States Submarine Veterans – Twin Lakes Base, the ceremony will be led by Commander Curtis Grant. Dan Hall, Commander of DAV Chapter 30, will serve as Master of Ceremonies, with Pastor Kevin McReynolds of Redeemer Lutheran Church as Chaplain.

For the second year, Commander Huber from the USS Arkansas, a new Virginia-class submarine currently under construction in Newport News, Va., will be the keynote speaker where his remarks will not only honor veterans but also emphasize the values of service and sacrifice represented by the crew of the USS Arkansas.

KTLO 97.9 FM will be broadcasting live along with providing music with the Mountain Home High School Band. Raquel Houk will be singing the national anthem. Participating Veterans Organizations will present the colors, and the Ally-White American Legion Post 52 Honor Guard will conduct honors. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to VFW Post 3246 for coffee and cupcakes.

In case of inclement weather, the event will move to St. Peter’s Catholic Church New Church Hall.

Prior to the event, Commander Huber will speak at the “Freedom Isn’t Free” ceremony at Mountain Home High School Monday morning at 8. Veterans in the community are encouraged to attend, but seating will be limited.
