Mountain Home Public Schools will hold a presentation for parents and guardians on the risks of social media for children. The event, titled Keeping Kids Safe Online, is set for Monday night from 6 to 7:30 at Dunbar Auditorium on the Mountain Home High School campus.
Superintendent Allyson Dewey says recent incidents of youth making poor choices on social media and facing serious consequences highlight the need for more awareness. She says, “Social media threats and other risky behaviors online are concerning for everyone involved. We want to support our local families by providing expert information.”
Due to the sensitive nature of the content, children will not be allowed to attend. To assist parents, the Mountain Home PTO will provide childcare during the presentation. The seminar covers online risks for children of all ages, aiming to benefit every parent in the community.
Dewey says “We want everyone locally to know that this presentation is not just open to Mountain Home families; we’d love to have other local parents and guardians join us to hear this information as well.”
The seminar will feature Dr. Robin Finley, an educator with over 35 years of experience providing support for kids, families and educators.
