A rural Mountain Home man pled guilty to the charges in three criminal cases during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Twenty-nine-year-old Tyler Sutterfield was sentenced to six years in prison.
Sutterfield picked up his most recent charge only last month when he is alleged to have been involved with his girlfriend in stealing her father’s 1996 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Sutterfield and the girlfriend went to her parents’ home in Clarkridge and told the mother the victim, who was away from home at the time, had given them permission to use the truck. The father told investigators that was untrue. He said he reached out to his daughter and Sutterfield to return the vehicle but they would not communicate with him.
The truck was listed as stolen. It was eventually picked up by a license plate reader next to Anstaff Bank on U.S. Highway 62 West.
Mountain Home police responded and held the vehicle in the bank parking lot. Sutterfield and the girlfriend were both arrested initially on outstanding warrants issued by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.
Illegal narcotics and a handgun were found in their possession.
The truck was returned to the owner.
On May 28, police responded to Walmart to investigate a complaint that two people allegedly involved in shoplifting would not identify themselves to store staff.
Sutterfield and a female identified themselves to the officers.
They were searched and items taken from the store were found in her purse. Sutterfield was in possession of methamphetamine.
At the time, Sutterfield was reported to have outstanding warrants issued by two different law enforcement agencies.
Sutterfield was arrested in early February when he was stopped by a Baxter County sheriff’s deputy on an outstanding warrant.
During a search, small bags containing methamphetamine and marijuana were located.
Charges in the three cases included possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and theft of property.
A charge of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, which is a Class Y felony, was dismissed by the state.
