Several hunters began to hit the woods throughout the Twin Lakes Area and other portions of Arkansas over the weekend. Saturday marked the start of the modern gun deer season for zones covering north central Arkansas.
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Assistant Chief of Communications Randy Zellers says while the information they currently have is preliminary and anecdotal, it appears the season started on a good note.

Rain fell in the area for much of the weekend, but Zellers says if that had an effect on the number of hunters in the woods, it was minimal.
