A Baxter County woman arrested twice in a short span of time last year pled guilty to charges against her during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court on November 18.
Thirty-two-year-old Laiken Fox, who has listed several addresses on court documents including Gassville and Bull Shoals, was sentenced to four years-probation.
She was facing charges in criminal cases opened November 14 and December 1 last year.
INITIAL CASE
Fox was first charged with theft by receiving after authorities got a report in late October from an 81-year-old-man living along Rose Garden Lane.
The victim said his grandson had recently been staying with him, sleeping in a guest bedroom, and that Fox had been at the residence because of a relationship between the two.
The victim said he kept a Ruger .22-caliber pistol in a bedside cabinet in the room his grandson had been occupying. He told investigators when he went to look for the firearm it was missing.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim said he had heard Fox was “bragging to others about stealing the pistol.”
Investigators determined that Fox had pawned the stolen gun October 23 last year and she was arrested and charged.
ARRESTED AGAIN
The second case was filed against her December 1, 2023. In that case, Fox is charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and third-degree battery.
Mountain Home police were called to 9th and Cooper Streets about 9:30 p.m. November 28 where they found Fox sitting in the driver’s seat of a Ford Focus. A 25-year-old male was standing nearby in a church parking lot.
Police found that an altercation of some type had taken place in the vehicle. Fox said she had been trying to calm the male down and was holding on to him and at some point, he hit her.
The male claimed Fox had attacked him but he didn’t want to press charges.
The investigating officer said the man had fresh scratch wounds on his face that were bleeding. Fox was reported to have “marks around her back and bra strap.”
At one point, Fox was reported to have “appeared to be having a seizure” and an ambulance from Baxter Health came to the scene and took Fox to the hospital to be checked out.
She was arrested when she was cleared to leave the hospital.
As the vehicle was being checked, a quantity of methamphetamine was found along with paraphernalia to ingest the drug.
The male who had also been in the car said the items belonged to Fox.
Both the male passenger and Fox were served with no contact orders to keep them apart.
