A special Christmas celebration is set to light up Calico Rock this Saturday. The festivities include Living Windows and the Lighted Christmas Parade, presented by the Calico Rock Museum and Visitor Center, Main Street Calico Rock, and Mitchells Park Street Pharmacy.
The Living Windows event kicks off the evening from 5 to 6:30. Downtown business windows will come alive with Christmas movie scenes, and visitors can vote for their favorites. Ballots, pencils, and a ballot box will be available in front of the Calico Rock Museum until 6:15. Displays will be judged on originality, live action, and decoration quality. The first place winner will receive a prize of $250, second place will receive $100, third place will receive $75 and the business hosting the winning windows will receive $100.
At 6:30, the Lighted Christmas Parade will take over Main Street, starting at the Sgt. Mike Stephen Memorial Bridge and traveling to King City Park near the Calico Rock Fire Department. Fire and emergency vehicles will line up behind upper Main Street, while other floats and ATVs will stage on lower Main Street and Rowden Street.
Vehicles parked behind Main St., the Rodman St. Parking Lot or the Peppersauce Alley Parking lot will be blocked in until the parade has left Main St.
