Thursday basketball schedule includes MHHS teams in NW Arkansas

Thursday will be a busy day for basketball on the local level, and the Mountain Home High School teams will spend the evening in northwest Arkansas.

The Bomber boys will be in Farmington for their first game in the Bad Boy Mowers Cardinal Classic. Mountain Home’s opening opponent will be Ozark Catholic from Tontitown.
The Bombers are currently 5-4 on the season. Mountain Home’s last game was Tuesday when they won their Battle of the Border game over West Plains. Ozark Catholic has a record of 16-2. The Griffins are coming off a 55-point win over Decatur.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5. Thursday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 or ktlo.com or viewed on the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.

Mountain Home’s girls will continue play in the Red Dog Invitational. The Lady Bombers’ second opponent at Springdale will be Greene County Tech.
Mountain Home is 7-2 on the season following their win over the Oklahoma Flame. The Lady Eagles lost the other game on Wednesday to Springdale.
Gametime at Bulldog Arena is set for 7:30. Thursday’s game will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.

A few area high school teams will take part in the semifinals of the Battle of the Border Tournament at Mammoth Spring. On the girls’ side, Cotter and Willow Springs get underway at 4:30, and Viola faces the host Lady Bears at 7. The Mammoth Spring boys take on Alton, Mo., at 5:45.

The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament continues at Melbourne. Timbo’s junior girls will be paired with Cave City at 4, the Timbo junior boys meet Highland at 5, Izard County’s senior girls face Timbo at 6, and the Timbo senior boys take on Highland at 7:15.

Mountain View’s boys will compete for the consolation championship of the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Basketball Tournament at Batesville. The Yellowjackets play Southside Batesville at 4.

Both of Lead Hill’s high school teams will continue action in the Green Forest Holiday Tournament. The Tigers will be matched up with Blue Eye at 5 on the boys’ side, and the Lead Hill girls meet the host school at 6:20.

Bergman’s girls will be in Fort Smith for their opener in the Tournament of Champions. The Lady Panthers face LIncoln Christian from Tulsa, Okla., at 4.

The Harrison boys will go to Rogers for their first game in the Arvest Hoopfest. The Goblins take on Nixa, Mo., at 5:30.

Elsewhere on the high school level, Norfork hosts Rural Special, Gainesville’s girls travel to Hartville, Ozark Mountain entertains Hector, and Jasper is home against the School for Advanced Studies for two boys’ games.

On the junior varsity level, Marshall hosts Alpena for three boys’ games.

All of Mountain Home’s junior high teams will be on the road for an outing with Batesville. In the main gym, the seventh grade boys’ game tips off at 5 followed by the eighth grade boys and both freshman contests. The seventh grade girls’ game will start at 5 in the back gym, and the eighth grade girls’ contest will follow.

In other junior high basketball, Flippin’s junior varsity squads make the short trip to Yellville-Summit.
