A few area high school basketball teams competed in the semifinals of the Battle of the Border Tournament Thursday at Mammoth Spring.
Cotter was sent to the third place game of the girls’ bracket. The Lady Warriors fell to Willow Springs 51-33.
Viola will be Cotter’s opponent on Saturday. The Lady Longhorns lost to Mammoth Spring 44-36.
Mammoth Spring also advanced to the boys’ title game. The host Bears picked up a 56-46 win over Alton, Mo.
The Norfork High School teams had a rough night in front of the home crowd as they were swept by Rural Special. The Panthers lost the boys’ game to the Rebels 71-44. Norfork also lost the girls’ contest to Rural Special 61-29.
Gainesville’s girls suffered a defeat on the road. The Lady Bulldogs fell at Hartville 41-27.
The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament continued at Melbourne. Izard County’s senior girls defeated Timbo 61-22. Timbo also lost to Highland 53-43 in the senior boys’ game and 59-29 in the junior boys’ contest. The night started with Timbo’s junior girls falling to Cave City 46-12.
The Mountain View boys fell short of the consolation championship in the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Basketball Tournament at Batesville. The Yellowjackets lost to Southside Batesville 54-46.
Lead Hill had mixed results as they continued action in the Green Forest Holiday Tournament.
On the boys’ bracket, the Tigers finished with a 60-45 victory over Blue Eye, Mo. Dawson Lively was Lead Hill’s top scorer with 21 points, DJ Evans had 17 points, and Noah Royce dished out 11 assists.
Lead Hill had a different result on the girls’ side. In a game between Lady Tigers, Lead Hill fell to Green Forest 83-30.
Bergman’s girls began the Tournament of Champions on a rough note Thursday at Fort Smith. The Lady Panthers suffered a 69-39 defeat to Lincoln Christian from Tulsa.
The Harrison boys came up just short in their opener in the Arvest Hoopfest at Rogers. The Goblins fell 59-56 to Nixa, Mo.
Ozark Mountain split its high school games with Hector at Western Grove. The Lady Bears defeated the Lady Wildcats 65-51. Ozark Mountain’s girls were edged out by Hector 48-46.
