Flippin SRO recognized with Dwayne Yarbrough Distinguished Service Award

Corporal Lonnie Stone, a school resource officer with the City of Flippin Police Department, was recognized Thursday at the Benton Event Center for his exceptional service to the community. Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin presented Stone with the Dwayne Yarbrough Distinguished Service Award, which honors outstanding dedication and contributions by law enforcement officers across the state.

Assigned to the Flippin Public Schools for the past nine years, Corporal Stone has been a vital presence in the district. Known for his friendly demeanor and unwavering support, he is praised by students, faculty, and parents alike.

According to Police Chief John Spence, there have been numerous times when Corporal Stone has dropped everything during his time off to check on students and faculty in need. Chief Spence says, “Corporal Stone has had a positive impact on countless children in our community and that along has been a priceless asset to this department and community.”

Stone was honored for his commitment to helping students understand the impact of their decisions on their future, earning admiration from the community he serves.

The annual awards ceremony, hosted by the Attorney General’s Office, celebrates the contributions of law enforcement officers statewide.
