A Marion County man has been arrested for assaulting his wife and pointing a gun at her head. Forty-one-year-old Aaron Scott Brantner of Summit is facing four charges in connection with the incident, three of them felonies.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Nov. 30. The victim was on the phone with dispatch and while deputies were en route, Brantner allegedly entered the bedroom where his wife was located, took her phone and threw it against the wall which disconnected the call.
When a deputy arrived, Brantner’s juvenile son was standing outside and told the deputy his parents were in the downstairs bedroom. The deputy found Brantner and took him into custody without incident.
The victim told law enforcement Brantner came into the house and started pushing her around. After he threw her phone against the wall, he pulled a gun out of his back pocket and pointed it at her head while yelling. After a few moments, he then pointed the gun at his own head before eventually putting the gun on the bed and leaving the room.
It was later discovered the son’s friend, who was also in the house, had been hiding in the closet of the bedroom.
Brantner’s charges include aggravated assault of a family or household member and two counts of first degree endangering the welfare of a minor, all felonies, along with a misdemeanor count of first degree interference with emergency communications. He is free on $7,500 bond.
