A Baxter County man has been arrested for an incident in late October when he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and assaulted her. Forty-year-old Robert Joseph Jones of Norfork is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center, facing three charges for the incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call from a female in the early morning hours saying her former boyfriend had broken into her home along Sheid Road in Norfork.
The victim told deputies Jones kicked in the door and as she was attempting to call 911, he grabbed her by her feet. She got free and ran to the bathroom but Jones followed and put her in a headlock before she was able to escape.
The victim’s daughter came into the room and saw the attack and yelled for Jones to stop. The daughter’s boyfriend then came in and told Jones to leave and he exited the residence.
When deputies arrived, they searched for Jones but were unable to find him.
Deputies noted the victim had visible injuries from the attack. She did not request medical attention but the witnesses said they would take her to the hospital for treatment.
During an interview with deputies, one of the witnesses said Jones used to live in the house with the victim and he and the victim had broken up a couple of months prior to the attack.
Jones is facing a felony count of aggravated residential burglary and misdemeanor counts of first degree criminal mischief and third degree domestic battery. His bond is set at $25,000.
