Patrol Officer for City of Flippin Police Department

General Description: A Patrol Officer is responsible for maintaining public safety and enforcing laws and city ordinances. Primary duties are but not limited to patrolling neighborhoods, city roads, and public spaces to prevent and detect crime, respond to calls for service, and provide a visible presence to deter crime and illegal activities. Patrol Officers may work in various settings and their shifts can vary, often involving daytime, nighttime, weekends, and holidays. This position is governed by law enforcement procedures, state laws, federal laws, department policies, and procedures.

Certified law enforcement officers preferred or non-certified must be able to become certified law enforcement officers by the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST) as established by ACA 12-9-204 within (9) nine months of the hire date.

Minimum Standards:

  • Be a citizen of the United States (proof required).
  • Be at least 21 years of age (proof required).
  • Be fingerprinted and a search initiated of state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record.
  • Be free of felony record.
  • Be free of a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction, in accordance with 18 USC section 922.
  • Be of good character as determined by a thorough background investigation.
  • Be a high school graduate or have passed the General Education Development (GED)
  • Be examined by a licensed physician and meet prescribed physical requirements.
  • Pass a psychological screening.
  • Possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license when hired.
