Special agents with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on the evening of Thursday, December 19, 2024.
The incident began around 3:30 p.m., when the Jonesboro Police Department issued a “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert for Kyle Davis, a 32-year-old man from Paragould, in connection with a residential burglary. Davis was believed to be driving a silver Chevrolet pickup truck.
At approximately 4:50 p.m., a Paragould Police officer spotted Davis on the campus of Greene County Tech High School. When the officer attempted to make contact, Davis fled the scene, initiating a pursuit. ASP Troopers quickly joined the chase, which led them onto Jones Road, then eastbound on U.S. Highway 412, and finally north onto Greene County Road 808.
The pursuit came to an end when troopers successfully executed a tactical vehicle intervention, causing Davis to stop. Davis then exited his vehicle while armed with a shotgun and an axe, and approached the officers. In response, multiple officers discharged their weapons, fatally wounding Davis.
The officers involved in the shooting included three Greene County deputies, one Paragould Police officer, and an ASP Trooper.
Davis’ body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Arkansas State Police CID is conducting the investigation, and the findings will be submitted to the Greene County prosecuting attorney, who will review the case and decide whether the use of deadly force was justified under Arkansas law.
