MHHS boys to meet Fair Grove, Mo., in Northark Border War Shootout

Basketball makes up the local Saturday schedule and includes the last outing for the Mountain Home High School boys before the Christmas holiday. The Bombers will be among a few teams in Harrison as they meet Fair Grove, Mo., in the ninth-annual North Arkansas College Boys Basketball Border War Shootout.
The matchup will be one of three games pitting an Arkansas school against a Missouri school. Mountain Home comes into the game with a record of 7-5. The Bombers’ last game was Tuesday when they went to Jonesboro and suffered an 11-point defeat to Nettleton. Fair Grove is currently 2-3 on the season. The Eagles are coming off a loss at home to Branson.
This will be a rematch from last year’s shootout. Mountain Home was able to hold off Fair Grove a year ago for the 52-51 victory.
Tip-off at the Pioneer Pavilion is scheduled for 4. Saturday’s game will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.
There are two other games pairing an Arkansas team with a Missouri team. Berryville and Blue Eye will get underway at 1, and Valley Springs faces Norwood at 2:30. The last game will feature two Arkansas schools as Izard County takes on Harrison at 5:30.

The Melbourne High School boys will be in Conway for the final day of the John Stanton Classic. The Bearkatz will play Mills at 5.

A few area schools will send their junior high teams to Viola for the Longhorn Junior High Ugly Christmas Sweater Classic, and Mountain Home’s girls will be among the teams competing. The Junior Lady Bombers will be paired with Highland at 12:30.
In the other girls’ games, Cotter meets Calico Rock at 11:15, and Viola faces Mammoth Spring at 3. On the boys’ side, Calico Rock takes on Mammoth Spring at 1:45, and Cotter plays Viola at 4:15.
The event will get underway with a seventh grade girls’ game. Cotter and Highland will tip off at 10.
