The Atlas Asphalt Basketball Tournament came to an end Saturday in Mountain Home with the host school keeping one of the championship trophies.

The Lady Bombers captured their third tournament title of the season with a 65-55 victory over North Little Rock, and the game included a milestone for one of Mountain Home’s seniors. The first quarter was back and forth between the two teams. The Lady Charging Wildcats began pulling away in the second period and went into the locker room up eight at the break. The Lady Bombers mounted a comeback and ended the third quarter with a two-point advantage. The game was again back and forth for much of the final period, but in the final minute, North Little Rock was forced to start fouling. Mountain Home sank the majority of its free throws, and during that time, Laykin Moore reached 1,000 points for her career before the team went on to win by 10.

Brooklyn Mitchell led the Lady Bombers with 24 points, Livi Fosness scored 22, and Moore added 10. Kinley Mears had 16 points for the Lady Charging Wildcats.

Mountain Home improves to 14-2 on the season. North Little Rock falls to 11-6.

In the other girls’ games, Greers Ferry West Side defeated Cabot 60-51 for third place, Flippin finished sixth with a 54-39 loss to Dumas, and Rector got past Paragould 54-50 for seventh place.

The Bomber boys not as fortunate in their championship game as Farmington captured its third straight title in the tournament with a 76-57 decision. The game was kept close throughout the first half with four ties and four lead changes. The Cardinals were only up two at the break, but the tide turned in the third quarter. Farmington couldn’t miss, and the Bombers couldn’t hit as they were outscored 25-6 in the period. Blaine Tate took over with 17 fourth quarter points, but Mountain Home had too far to overcome as the Cardinals went on to win by 19.

The Bombers were led by Tate with 23 points, and Jackson Corp chipped in 11. Eli Schwartzman recorded 24 points for Farmington, Maddox Teeter finished with 19, and Ben Rockwell ended up with 12.
