The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show an increase in November’s unemployment rates in north central Arkansas and but a slight dip in southern Missouri counties when compared to October.
In Baxter County, the rate increased from 3.2% in October to 3.5% in November. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 35th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 588 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 17,002.
Marion County’s rate went up from 3.4% in October to 3.7% in November, ranking it as tied for the 46th lowest in the state. Marion County has 214 residents out of work from a work force of 5,838.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate increased from 2.8% in October to 3.4% in November, which means they are tied for the 27th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,379 and 150 are unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County went up from 4.1% in October to 4.8% in November, which has them ranked 66th lowest out of 75 counties in Arkansas. There are 234 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,875.
In Stone County, the rate increased from 3.4% in October to 3.8% in November. That ranks Stone County tied for 50th in the state. There are 4,574 in the labor force in Stone County with 173 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate moved up from 3.2% to 3.8% in November, ranking them tied for 50th in Arkansas. There are 104 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,704.
Boone County saw its rate slide up from 2.9% in October to 3.1% in November, putting them in a tie for the 14th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 15,708 with 494 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 14th lowest unemployment rate at 3.1%, increasing from 2.7% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,142 with 96 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’ unemployment rate in November was 3.3%, the same as the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stayed the same at an even 5% in November. Ozark County had 167 unemployed out of a workforce of 3,372.
Douglas County saw its rate go down from 4.0% in October to 3.7% in November. Douglas County has a labor force of 5,341 with 198 unemployed.
Howell County’s rate eased down from 4.2% to 4.1% in November. In Howell County, there are 662 unemployed out of a workforce of 16,068.
Taney County’s rate had a drop, going from 4% in October to 3.9% in November. Taney County’s labor force is 26,463 with 1,035 unemployed.
Missouri’s unemployment rate decreased from 3.4% in October to 3.3% in November.
