Arkansas residents needing help with energy bills this winter can now apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
LIHEAP’s winter benefits cover electricity, natural gas, propane, wood, fuel oil, and pellets. The program, available in all 75 counties, is currently accepting applications.
Applicants must submit six required documents: a photo ID, Social Security cards for household members over 18, Social Security numbers for those under 18, recent utility bills, proof of income, and proof of residency. Additional documentation may be required to determine eligibility.
Agencies have up to 35 days to process applications. Approved payments are sent directly to the utility company or fuel provider on behalf of the applicant.
