A 29-year-old Little Rock man, Luis Danielle Valdez-Reyes, was arrested on January 6, 2025, after being accused of assaulting an Arkansas State Trooper and fleeing from arrest. The arrest follows an incident on December 31, 2024, when Valdez-Reyes, a passenger in a Ford F250 pickup truck, attempted to evade authorities.

The incident began around 7:15 p.m. on December 31, when an Arkansas State Police Trooper pulled over the truck traveling eastbound on Interstate 30 in Benton for a traffic violation. During the stop, the Trooper discovered that Valdez-Reyes had an outstanding felony warrant for mail theft out of Little Rock. When the Trooper attempted to arrest him, Valdez-Reyes resisted by pulling away and striking the officer before fleeing the scene on foot.

Valdez-Reyes was apprehended on January 6 by Arkansas State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. He is currently being held in the Saline County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond. Valdez-Reyes faces multiple charges, including Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Operations, Fleeing, and Public Intoxication.

Investigators from U.S. Homeland Security have confirmed that Valdez-Reyes had been living in the United States illegally under the alias Ronald Solis. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District is pursuing federal charges against him for Illegal Reentry after Deportation, following a January 7 indictment.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not identified, was cited for the traffic violation and released at the scene.
