Tuesday night will feature a pair of big games for the Mountain Home High School basketball teams. The Bombers and Lady Bombers are set to welcome Farmington to the Twin Lakes Area with the girls’ contest being a matchup of two of the states highest ranked teams.
In the latest Arkansas Sports Media poll, Mountain Home’s girls are ranked second in Class 5A and have moved up one spot to No. 4 on the overall top 10. Farmington is the top-ranked girls’ team in Class 5A and second overall. Lady Bombers head coach, Dell Leonard says his team is in a position where they can’t be concerned about the media rankings.

The Lady Bombers are currently currently 17-2 on the season and 3-0 in the 5A-West following their seven-point win over Van Buren on Friday. The Lady Cardinals are 15-1 and 3-0 after beating up on Greenwood. Leonard says one of the main keys to stopping Farmington is transition defense.

This will be the second matchup between the two boys’ teams. Mountain Home lost to Farmington 76-57 in the championship game of the Atlas Asphalt Basketball Tournament last month. Bombers’ head coach Josh Fulcher says the first half was played fairly even, but his team had a bad third quarter, and the Cardinals took advantage.

Mountain Home is 10-9 on the year and 0-3 in the league. The Bombers fell to Van Buren on Friday to extend their losing streak to four games. Farmington just dropped out of the Class 5A top five and the overall top 10 in the latest Arkansas Sports Media rankings. The Cardinals are 15-4 and 2-1 following their win over Greenwood.
Fulcher says his team will have the tough task of defending their shooters, but positioning will also be key in containing their inside presence.

Also in the 5A-West, Harrison hosts Siloam Springs, Russellville entertains Greenwood, and Alma travels to Van Buren.
