The Arkansas State Police (ASP) has released more details on the deadly shooting Monday in Gassville. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Ian Lapio of Gassville.
The ASP, who is handling the investigation, says when Gassville officers first arrived on the scene of the shooting, Lapio was lying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to Baxter Health where he later died.
Witnesses told law enforcement two men were involved in an altercation prior to the shooting. Gassville police took one person into custody for questioning but no arrests have been made.
Lapio’s body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of death.
The ASP says once the investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the 14th District Prosecuting Attorney who will determine if any criminal charges will be filed in connection with the shooting.
The ASP says the investigation into the shooting, which happened on Mountain Loop Road, is continuing.
