Concerns continue to grow locally as a national freeze on certain federal program funding ripples across the country. Tuesday morning national news agencies began pointing to the Meals on Wheels program being effected by the pause.Robyn Snyder Director of the Van Matre Senior Wellness Center in Mountain Home who also coordinates the local Meals on Wheels program states that meal deliveries continue to run this week on schedule, “Currently we will continue to serve our seniors in our community.”

Snyder states she received an email from Meals on Wheels of America discussing the current funding freezes by the Trump administration. She says the email says that the changes are causing concern at the moment but officials in the organization state not to worry.

The U.S. Office of Management and Budget sparked controversy Monday night with a memo directing a temporary halt to “all activities related to the obligation or disbursement of all federal financial assistance.” According to a report from the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan blocked the funding freeze just minutes prior to going into effect. The order is in place until Monday afternoon when a court hearing is currently scheduled.
