There is a man going around causing chaos for truckers in the south by puncturing the tires on their rigs. The elusive “Ice Pick Bandit” has only ever been caught on camera three times in three separate years with the first being in Florida, then Tennessee and most recently here in Arkansas.

The most recent report of the Ice Pick Bandit’s nefarious antics came from a small town with a population of less than 2,000, Gurdon. Clark County Sheriff Jason Watson provided video to the press of a red truck he believes to be linked to the suspect arrive at Southfork Truck Stop where a man allegedly punctured 296 tires on 40 trucks between two attacks in September 2024 and January 2025.

The suspect, described as a white male believed to be 30-40 years old, has evaded law enforcement officers through his criminal exploits in at least Florida, Georgie, Tennessee, Texas and Arkansas. The Ice Pick Bandit’s desperado spur has resulted in the ruining of at least 1,000 tires since June of 2023.

Though tires appear to be the primary target, there have been cases involving brake lines and airbags also being punctured. The motive still remains unclear.

According to the Gurdon truck stop manager, Stephanie Helsey, the business is installing high-resolution security cameras with night vision capabilities to deter the destructive deviant from harming trucks there again.

Gurdon isn’t the only town to suffer from the Ice Pick Bandit. According to the Hazen Police Chief, seven trucks at a rest stop near Hazen were also vandalized.

Sheriff Watson says the motive still remains unclear, but the sheriff theorizes it could be a former DOT officer or someone who had a loved one injured by a truck driver.
