
The Mountain Home Rifle Team recently earned top rankings in a highly competitive field.
Competing in White Hall on Feb. 1, the team secured the top state ranking at the White Hall 3-Position Air Rifle competition.
The Sporter team, made up of Lukas Pool, Britney Jones, Emerson Walls and Ethan Darracq, finished 2nd in their category. The Precision Team also placed second, with a team consiting of Karhys Herbert, MaKynley Smith, Aspen Douglas and Dylan Prins.
In its first year of competition, made possible by a donation from the Second Amendment Foundation, the team has already qualified to represent Arkansas at the Civilian Marksmanship Program Southeast Regional Championship this spring in Anniston, Alabama.
The Junior Olympic Qualifier, held the same day, gave the young marksmen a shot at the National Junior Olympics. Dylan Prins placed third in the mens category for Arkansas, while Karhys Herbert finished fourth in the womens category.
Up next, the Mountain Home Rifle Team competes in the Arkansas State Championship on Feb. 22, again in White Hall.
