The Baxter County Conservation District is giving land owners in the Hicks Creek Watershed an opportunity to help offset the cost of implementing new practices to help prevent water pollution in the area.
Property containing livestock in a watershed can result in silt runoff by channeling rainfall and snowmelt to creeks, streams and rivers and eventually to outflow points such as reservoirs, bays and the ocean.
The District is offering a cost share program, which lets the government share the cost of installing the practices with farmers and ranchers.
Molly Garland, Grassland Specialist with the Baxter County Conservation District, says this project helps keep water clean.
