NAEC prepared for winter storm; expects low impacts to grid

North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) is prepared and confident that impacts will be low from the incoming winter storm Tuesday morning.

NAEC CEO Mel Coleman tells KTLO News this system is different than the one that hit the area just over a month ago.

The snow will be followed by days of extremely cold temperatures and that could put extra stress on the system.

The demand over the coming days on the grid will create another consequence down the road in the form of increased bills for members. Coleman says they are ready to help where they can.

The Coop recommends its members have a plan to stay warm and safe in the coming days. If there are any power lines down stay away from them. Power outages can be reported by calling NAEC at (870) 895-3221 or visit NAECI.com.
