MARLON MOWDY, SITE MANAGER OF THE JACOB WOLF HOUSE TO SPEAK
Marlon Mowdy will be the guest speaker for the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society at their monthly meeting. The meeting is Tuesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m.
Marlon Mowdy is the Jacob Wolf House Historic Site manager in Norfork. He works for the Department of Arkansas Heritage Historic Preservation Program.
Marlon has Masters degrees in Public History and Heritage Studies and has been employed 28 years with the State of Arkansas serving several different conservation and resource-minded agencies. He has guided the continued restoration and improvements at the Wolf House site since Baxter County Quorum Court transferred the property and its care to the State Department of Heritage in 2016.
Mowdy’s presentation is “The Jacob Wolf House Historical Site: The Future of the Past.” His talk highlights the history of the property and its ongoing development as the State of Arkansas’s newest historic site.
The meetings of the Baxter County Historical Society are held in the Knox Room of the Library on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Refreshments are served and the meetings are free and open to the public.
